AMARILLO TANKS MANUFACTURING STANDARDS
At Amarillo Tanks, we hold ourselves to high standards through our design, fabrication and inspection processes. It’s an essential part of being a trusted tank manufacturer. Our products are engineered to meet recognized tank manufacturing standards so you can safely store flammable or combustible liquids. Let’s walk through some common questions about our manufacturing standards.

Which tank manufacturing certifications does Amarillo Tanks hold?
Amarillo Tanks is UL 142 certified for stationary aboveground round, square and double-wall tanks. This certification was first drafted more than 100 years ago by Underwriters Laboratories, an independent, globally recognized third-party safety company now known as UL Solutions. It defines tank construction standards related to performance, labeling, leak prevention, proper venting and internal pressure.

Every tank that comes off our line goes through careful inspection and testing. Our tank drawings are reviewed and approved for both design and manufacturing materials. We carefully perform calculations to verify finished tank strength. All tank materials and components are tested for chemical properties and strength, while ASME hydrotesting ensures our tanks can handle 1.3 times the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP). And before any tank leaves our shop, the joints are checked for proper fit and welds are inspected internally and externally.
Does Amarillo Tanks have an ASME tank certification?
Amarillo Tanks has earned an ASME Code Shop certification. The ASME Certificate of Authorization is an indication of a commitment to safety and quality. The ASME Certification Mark is recognition that our certified quality assurance program for the designator(s) has followed all aspects of the applicable ASME Code or Standard and met the rigorous requirements of ASME’s Conformity Assessment Certification program.

To earn a UL 142 certification, tank manufacturers must meet strict design and fabrication standards and pass rigorous performance and leak-resistance testing. Designs and manufactured tanks are submitted to UL Solutions for review. Once approved, each one will have a permanent display with information verifying they are UL Listed tanks. To maintain compliance, manufacturers may be required to have their products or fabrication processes reevaluated periodically.
