1,000-GALLON FUEL AND OIL TANKS

Which accessories come standard on a 1,000-gallon tank from Amarillo Tanks?

All standard tanks include a float gauge and a bottom drain plug. Fittings are left open for customization based on your needs.

Do I need secondary containment (double-wall construction) for a 1,000-gallon fuel tank?

Secondary containment is often required for tanks of this size, but rules vary by state and municipality. Confirm with your local fire marshal or environmental agency.

Double-wall tanks often (but not always) fulfill secondary containment requirements. And many Amarillo Tanks customers choose double-wall construction even if it isn’t required locally. The tank-within-a-tank setup can help protect against spills and prevent costly cleanup, environmental damage, or fire risk. However, it’s important to remember that double-wall tanks are larger than single-wall tanks. The construction means the size of tank you want is encased in a larger tank.

Do I need a permit for a 1,000-gallon fuel tank?

Fuel tank regulations vary by location. However, tanks for noncommercial use can often be up to 1,100 gallons without additional permits. Some exemptions also apply for agricultural operations, depending on location. Check with authorities to ensure you’re following local requirements before installation.
